Dongcheng Rotary Hammer 26mm SDS-plus (DZC05-26B) is an 800 W three-mode rotary hammer delivering 2.8 J of impact energy through an SDS-plus chuck. Unlike an impact drill, which vibrates its way through masonry, a rotary hammer uses a piston mechanism to drive the bit forward with real force — which is why it will drill reinforced concrete all day where an impact drill would stall and overheat.
Three modes cover most concrete work from one tool: plain rotary drilling for wood and metal, hammer drilling for concrete and masonry, and chisel-only mode for chipping tile, breaking out plaster, and light demolition. The SDS-plus chuck swaps bits by hand without a chuck key and locks them in a way that transfers impact energy properly instead of hammering the chuck itself apart.
Key Features
- 2.8 J impact energy: Piston-driven blows that cut reinforced concrete, not just brick
- Three modes: Drill, hammer drill, and chisel-only for light demolition
- SDS-plus quick-change chuck: Tool-free bit changes with proper energy transfer
- Variable speed with forward/reverse: Start holes accurately and back out jammed bits
- Depth gauge and auxiliary handle: Repeatable hole depths and two-handed control

Usage and Safety Guidelines
Important — Read Before Use
- Always fit the auxiliary handle: If a bit binds in rebar the tool twists violently — two hands is the only safe grip
- Set rotation to forward for hammer and chisel modes: Reverse in these modes can damage the mechanism
- Change modes only when fully stopped: Switching under rotation will damage the gearbox
- Wear an N95 dust mask: Drilling concrete releases respirable silica dust
- Add goggles, gloves, and ear protection: Hammer drilling throws debris and is loud enough to damage hearing
- Scan for services first: Check for buried cable and pipework before drilling into any wall or slab
Recommended Applications
Where this hammer fits best
- Reinforced concrete drilling: Anchor holes up to Ø26 mm in slabs and columns
- MEP installation: Fixing points for conduit, ducting, trays, and pipe supports
- Wall chasing and chipping: Chisel mode for plaster removal and tile stripping
- Structural anchoring: Chemical and mechanical anchor holes
- Renovation work: Light demolition without moving to a full breaker
1) What is the difference between this and an impact drill?
A rotary hammer uses a piston mechanism delivering 2.8 J per blow; an impact drill just vibrates the chuck. For reinforced concrete and repetitive anchor drilling, that difference is the whole job — an impact drill will overheat and stall where this keeps cutting.
2) Can I use my existing drill bits?
Not in the SDS-plus chuck — it takes SDS-plus shank bits only, which have grooves that lock into the chuck. Round-shank bits need an optional SDS-plus to keyed-chuck adapter, and that adapter should only be used in plain drill mode, never with hammer action.
3) What does the chisel mode do?
It stops rotation and delivers hammer blows only, turning the tool into a light breaker for chipping tiles, removing plaster, and small demolition. For sustained breaking work, use a proper demolition hammer instead.
4) Is 26mm the biggest hole it will drill?
In concrete, yes — Ø26 mm with a standard SDS-plus bit. Larger diameters need a core bit and a more powerful machine; forcing this tool beyond its rating will cook the motor.
5) How do I get long tool life out of it?
Let the hammer action do the work rather than leaning on it — excess pressure reduces impact efficiency and overheats the motor. Keep the vents clear of dust, check the carbon brushes periodically, and clean and lightly grease SDS bit shanks before insertion.
