Makita M4101B 1250W Cutter is a 125 mm diamond-wheel cutter for tile, marble, granite, concrete, and masonry, cutting to 40 mm depth at 12,000 RPM. The larger wheel is the reason to choose it over the 110 mm M0401B: 40 mm of depth covers thicker stone slabs and deeper concrete chases in a single pass rather than cutting from both faces.

Makita redesigned the blade case on this model specifically to stop the depth guide deforming in use — a common failure on cutters that get thrown into a van at the end of the day. The base has a grooved back surface for smoother travel, and the motor housing vent is drip-resistant, which matters on a tool used around water. Like the rest of the range it is specialised for right-angle cutting only.

It also accepts a 110 mm diamond cup wheel, so the same machine handles surface grinding and levelling on concrete as well as straight cutting. Depending on the wheel supplied for your market it runs dry or wet, with a water supply tube holder included where applicable.

1) Can I use this to cut wood?

No. The M4101B is a masonry cutter for stone, tile, and concrete, not a circular saw. It has no riving knife or retracting lower guard, and it runs far faster than a wood saw. Fitting a TCT wood blade is dangerous — use a proper circular saw for timber.

2) Does it come with a diamond wheel?

No — the wheel is bought separately so you can match it to the material. Standard accessories are the tube holder, vinyl tube, and two wrenches.

3) What is the advantage over the 110 mm M0401B?

40 mm cutting depth against 32 mm, thanks to the larger 125 mm wheel. If you regularly cut thicker slabs or need deeper chases, that saves you cutting from both faces. The trade-off is 3.0 kg against 2.6 kg.

4) Can it be used as a surface grinder?

Yes — it accepts a 110 mm diamond cup wheel for surface grinding and levelling on concrete, which makes it more versatile than a cutting-only machine.
