- 65 W is the total across all PoE ports combined, not per port. A typical fixed IP camera draws 4–8 W; a WiFi 6 access point can draw 15–25 W
- Budget is the limit. Total what your devices draw and stay under the switch figure, or ports will shut down
- Use Cat5e or better. PoE reach and stability depend on cable quality more than anything else
- Extend mode trades speed for distance — 250 m, but those ports drop to 10 Mbps
1) What does PoE Auto Recovery actually do?
IP cameras and access points sometimes lock up while still drawing power. The switch notices the device has stopped responding and power-cycles that port to reboot it. Without it, somebody has to physically go and unplug the device.
2) Why choose Gigabit PoE over a 10/100 PoE switch?
Because of what you are powering. High-resolution cameras and especially WiFi 6 access points can exceed 100 Mbps, and a throttled access point wastes most of its capability. For basic 1080p cameras, 10/100 is adequate and cheaper.
3) How many devices will 65 W power?
Total your actual device figures. A fixed IP camera is typically 4–8 W; a WiFi 6 access point can be 15–25 W; PTZ cameras and heated housings considerably more. Leave headroom for anything added later.
4) Is Extend Mode worth using?
Only when you need the distance. It reaches 250 m instead of 100 m, but drops those ports to 10 Mbps — fine for a standard camera stream, not for a busy access point.
5) Do I need a controller or software?
No. It is unmanaged and plug and play. Extend Mode and PoE Auto Recovery are set with hardware switches on the unit.
