Ozone Door Closer NSK-980 is an overhead door closer designed for glass doors, mounted with a dedicated glass mounting plate rather than screwed into a frame.

That is the problem it solves. A conventional closer is screwed into a timber or metal frame — glass offers neither. The mounting plate clamps to the panel instead, giving the closer something solid to fix to without drilling into an already-toughened sheet.

It includes a hold-open function, which latches the door in the open position when you want it to stay there — useful during deliveries, cleaning, or busy periods when a self-closing door becomes an obstacle. Note that a hold-open closer should not be used on a fire door, where the whole point is that the door closes unaided.

1) Why does a glass door need a special closer?

Because there is no frame to screw into. A conventional closer fixes to timber or metal; on glass, a mounting plate clamps to the panel to give the closer something solid to attach to.

2) Is the mounting plate included?

No — it is sold separately, and the NSK-980 cannot be fitted without it. Order the plate made specifically for this model; they are not interchangeable across closers.

3) Should I use this or a floor spring?

An overhead closer avoids cutting the floor, which makes it the practical choice for a retrofit or where the slab cannot be excavated. A floor spring is neater and hides the mechanism, but needs a recess formed in the floor.

4) Can I use hold-open on a fire door?

No. A fire door must close unaided to do its job. Hold-open devices on fire doors are only permitted where they release automatically on alarm, which a mechanical hold-open closer does not do.
