1) Can I use this to cut wood?

No. Despite the resemblance to a small circular saw, the M0401B is a masonry cutter for stone, tile, and concrete. It spins at 13,800 RPM — roughly three times a wood saw's speed — and has no riving knife or retracting lower guard. Fitting a wood blade is genuinely dangerous. For timber, use a proper circular saw.

2) Does it come with a diamond wheel?

No. Standard accessories are the tube holder, vinyl tube, and two wrenches. The diamond wheel is purchased separately, which lets you match the wheel to your material — continuous rim for chip-free tile, segmented for concrete and masonry.

3) How is this better than using an angle grinder?

The base plate and adjustable depth gauge. A cutter runs flat on the surface and cuts to a consistent depth along a straight line; a handheld grinder is free-form, which is fine for rough work but hard to control across a tile you can't afford to ruin.

4) Can it cut at an angle or bevel?

No — Makita specifies it as right-angle cutting only. There is no bevel adjustment. The depth gauge adjusts how deep it cuts, not the angle.
