Legrand RX³ Double Pole RCCB protects single-phase 240V installations against earth leakage. It constantly compares the current in the live and neutral wires, and switches off the supply as soon as current leaks to earth – for example through damaged insulation, a faulty appliance or a person touching a live part. Its 30mA sensitivity is the standard level for protecting people from electric shock.

Made from durable polyamide and PBT plastics, it takes just 2 modules (35.6 mm) on a standard DIN rail, with touch-proof IP20 terminals and a front test button to check it is working. The supply can be connected to either the top or bottom terminals, making wiring easier. Choose 25A or 40A to match your installation. Please note an RCCB protects against earth leakage only – it does not protect against overload or short circuit, so it must always be used with suitable MCBs.

Installation & Safety

1) Does this Double Pole RCCB protect against overload or short circuit?

No. This RCCB is designed purely to protect people against earth leakage and electric shock. To protect your wiring from overload and short circuit, it must be installed in series with a suitable Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB).

2) What is the difference between Type AC and Type A RCCBs?

Type AC RCCBs, such as this one (402024 / 402025), trip on standard alternating-current faults, which suits household lighting, geysers and general loads. Type A RCCBs (such as 402036) are upgraded models that detect both standard AC faults and pulsating DC leakage, which can be caused by some modern electronic equipment. Type A is a separate model and is not included in this listing.

3) Does it matter which way the wires are connected?

No. Legrand RX³ RCCBs have no line-load bias, so the incoming supply can be connected to either the top or the bottom terminals, making installation easier for your electrician.

4) How often should I press the "T" button?

Legrand recommends pressing the Test ("T") button once a month. It creates a small simulated fault to check that the RCCB's trip mechanism is working correctly.
