Legrand RX³ Four Pole RCCB protects three-phase 415V installations against earth leakage. It constantly compares the current flowing through all three phases and the neutral, and switches off the supply as soon as current leaks to earth – for example through damaged insulation, a faulty appliance or a person touching a live part. Its 30mA sensitivity is the standard level for protecting people from electric shock.
It takes 4 modules (71.2 mm) on a standard DIN rail, with touch-proof IP20 terminals for safer wiring and a front test button to check it is working. Choose 25A, 40A or 63A to match your installation. Please note an RCCB protects against earth leakage only – it does not protect against overload or short circuit, so it must always be used with suitable MCBs.
Key Features

Which Rating to Choose
- 25A: Smaller three-phase installations
- 40A: Medium-sized three-phase homes and small commercial units
- 63A: Larger homes and commercial installations with higher loads
- Match the MCB: The RCCB rating should be equal to or higher than the main MCB protecting it
Installation & Safety
Important – Read Before Use
- Licensed Electrician Only: Three-phase 415V work must be done by a licensed electrician
- Always Use MCBs: An RCCB does not protect against overload or short circuit
- Connect the Neutral: The neutral must pass through the RCCB for it to work correctly
- Test Regularly: Press the test button about once a month to check it trips
1) Does an RCCB protect against overload and short circuit?
No. An RCCB only protects against earth leakage. It must be used together with suitable MCBs, which protect the wiring against overload and short circuit.
2) Why is a three-phase RCCB still 30mA?
30mA is the standard sensitivity for protecting people from electric shock. The danger to a person is the same whether the supply is single-phase or three-phase, so the same 30mA level is used.
3) Does the neutral have to be connected?
Yes. The RCCB works by comparing the current in the three phases with the current returning through the neutral. If the neutral is not connected through the RCCB, it cannot detect leakage correctly and may not work as intended.
4) What does Type AC mean?
Type AC RCCBs detect standard alternating-current leakage, which suits typical lighting, heating and general household loads. Some modern equipment with electronic drives (such as certain inverter appliances or EV chargers) may need a Type A RCCB – check the equipment manufacturer's advice.
5) Which rating should I choose?
25A suits smaller three-phase installations, 40A suits most medium-sized homes and small commercial units, and 63A suits larger installations. The RCCB rating should be equal to or higher than the main MCB that protects it – your electrician can confirm the right size.
6) Can I run it above its rated current?
No. Never run a continuous load above the RCCB's rating (25A, 40A or 63A). Doing so can overheat the contacts and make the device unsafe.
