SMG Hydraulic Surface Door Closer closes doors smoothly, quietly and under control, reducing slamming and impact damage to door frames. It is surface mounted on the door and frame and comes in two sizes: SDC-45 for lighter residential and office doors, and SDC-91 for heavier commercial doors.

Two separate adjustment valves let you set the main closing speed and the final latching speed, so the door closes gently and still latches securely. The aluminium alloy body is finished with an electrostatic powder coat that resists corrosion and suits both wooden and metal doors. Tested to 2,00,000 opening and closing cycles and backed by a 3-year warranty, it can be fitted on left-hand or right-hand doors.

Installation & Adjustment Tips

1) What do the two adjustment valves do?

The closer has two separate hydraulic valves. The first controls the main closing speed as the door swings from fully open to about 15° from the frame. The second controls the final latching speed, so you can set the door to close the last few degrees gently but still latch securely, without slamming.

2) Can it be fitted on left-hand and right-hand doors?

Yes. The closer and its arm can be mounted on doors opening either way, on the pull side or push side, depending on your door layout.

3) Which model should I choose?

Choose SDC-45 for lighter doors up to 32" (800 mm) wide and 35 – 45 kg, such as bedroom, cabin and bathroom doors. Choose SDC-91 for heavier doors up to 39" (1000 mm) wide and 45 – 60 kg, such as main entrance and solid wood doors.

4) Why are the mounting sizes different?

The SDC-91 handles heavier doors, so it has a longer body with a 162 x 19 mm mounting pattern to spread the load. The lighter SDC-45 uses a more compact 132 x 19 mm pattern.

5) Does the finish need special care?

No. The powder-coated finish resists chipping, scratches and humidity. Just wipe it with a soft, damp cloth during regular cleaning, and avoid harsh chemicals or wire scrubbers near the arm.
