1) Is the VG 400 compatible with my inverter AC, or is it only for conventional ACs?

The VG 400 is compatible with both inverter and conventional (fixed-speed) ACs up to 1.5 Ton. Inverter ACs have sensitive variable-frequency drive PCBs that are particularly vulnerable to voltage fluctuations - the Advanced IC regulation and automatic cut-off features of the VG 400 protect these components. For 2 Ton AC units, V-Guard's VG 500 model is required - the VG 400 is rated for up to 1.5 Ton only.

2) What is the Intelligent Time Delay System (ITDS) and why is it important?

When an AC compressor stops - whether due to a power cut, voltage trip, or manual switch-off - the refrigerant inside remains at high pressure for 2-3 minutes. If the compressor tries to restart immediately against this residual pressure, the motor draws extremely high current and experiences mechanical stress that can damage or shorten its life. The ITDS introduces a 3-minute delay before the stabilizer allows the AC to restart, giving the system time to equalize pressure. This is one of the most important compressor protection features in a stabilizer.

3) What happens when the voltage goes below 170V or above 270V?

The VG 400 continuously monitors input voltage. When the voltage drops below 170V or rises above 270V, it automatically cuts power to the AC and the LED indicator alerts you to the fault condition. Once the grid voltage returns to within the 170V-270V safe range, the stabilizer automatically resumes power supply to the AC - after the 3-minute ITDS delay. No manual intervention is required.

4) Does this stabilizer need to be installed by an electrician?

The VG 400 is wall-mountable and connects between the mains power point and the AC power cord. A qualified electrician should handle the installation to ensure correct wiring, proper wall fixing, and appropriate cable sizing for the AC load.
