This Round Ceiling Mounting Plate (Chakka) is made for fitting over ceiling junction boxes, giving light fittings a flat, firm base and a neat finish. Fixed over the junction box, it provides an even mounting surface and helps the light sit flush and level.

Note: This plate is for light fittings only, not ceiling fans. Fans need a separate fan mounting plate with a larger central hole for the fan rod and hook.

Made from a high-impact, flame-retardant composite polymer, it resists warping and heat from light fittings. The deep collar hides wiring, connectors and rough ceiling cutouts, while multi-point slots let you fix it to concrete ceilings, wooden joists or round and octagonal junction boxes. At 100 mm (4") across, it suits most light fitting bases.

  • Switch Off Power: Turn off the supply at the MCB before working on ceiling wiring
  • Heavy Lights: The weight of a heavy chandelier must be carried by a ceiling hook or anchor bolts fixed into the slab or joist – not by the plate alone
  • Not for Fans: Do not use this plate for ceiling fans; use a fan mounting plate with a larger central hole
  • Fix Firmly: Screw the plate through its slots into the junction box, ceiling anchors or joist
  • Use a Qualified Electrician: Especially for heavy fixtures

1) Why do I need a chakka?

It gives the light fitting a flat, firm base so it sits level and flush with the ceiling, and it neatly hides the junction box, wiring and any rough cutout for a clean finish.

2) Can I use it for a ceiling fan?

No. This plate is for light fittings only. Ceiling fans need a separate fan mounting plate, which has a larger central hole for the fan rod and hook to pass through. The weight of a fan must always be carried by a proper fan hook fixed in the slab.

3) Will it warp or discolour from light fitting heat?

It is made from a heat-resistant, flame-retardant polymer that resists warping from the normal heat of light fittings. Like all plastics, it may age slightly over many years.

4) Will it fit a square or rectangular box?

Its slots are designed to line up with round or octagonal ceiling boxes. For square or rectangular boxes, drill new fixing points into the surrounding ceiling for a secure fit.
