Product Description

The Jaquar Aquamax Concealed Body Series provides the in-wall brass valve foundation for high-performance built-in shower systems. Designed to sit flush within a wall recess, the concealed body keeps all plumbing hidden behind tiles for a clean, uncluttered shower aesthetic. Available in three configurations: a 2-way thermostatic body (ALD-681N) for two-outlet setups, a 3-way thermostatic body (ALD-683N) for three-outlet setups, and a 3-way single lever body (ALD-783N) for manual temperature control across three outlets. All three operate from as low as 0.2 Bar, making a booster pump optional in most residential setups.

The thermostatic variants use an advanced polymer cartridge that automatically maintains the pre-set water temperature regardless of pressure fluctuations elsewhere in the building - preventing accidental scalding. The polymer construction resists limescale accumulation in hard water areas. The single lever variant (ALD-783N) uses a solid brass spindle rated to 10.5 lakh (1,050,000) ON/OFF cycles for long-term mechanical reliability. All models include integrated backflow protection. The outer trim kit is sold separately.

Key Features

  • Anti-scald thermostatic cartridge (681N, 683N): Automatically maintains pre-set temperature - prevents scalding from pressure fluctuations
  • 2-way and 3-way diverters: Channels water between 2 or 3 independent outlets - rain shower, hand shower, bath spout, or body jets
  • Anti-limescale polymer cartridge: Resists calcium deposits in hard water areas - keeps valve operating smoothly long-term
  • Integrated backflow protection: Built-in anti-siphon mechanism meets sanitary plumbing code requirements
  • 10.5 lakh cycle rating (783N): Solid brass spindle tested to 1,050,000 ON/OFF operations for high-frequency use

Installation and System Notes

Important - Read Before Installation

  • Wall cavity depth: Excavate a cavity allowing 63mm (Min) to 83mm (Max) installation depth from the finished tile surface
  • Keep protective caps on: Leave the factory-supplied plastic caps on the brass body throughout masonry, plastering, and tiling to block debris from entering the valve
  • Pipeline flushing: Flush all hot and cold supply lines clear of sand, welding slag, and joint tape before connecting to the valve body
  • Inline Y-strainer required: Install a dedicated inline Y-strainer filter on both hot and cold inputs upstream of the valve to protect the internal cartridges
  • Pre-tile pressure test: Pressure-test all joints at 16 Bar before plastering and tiling - a leak found after tiling requires breaking the finished wall
  • Hot-cold orientation: Hot supply must connect to the left inlet and cold to the right. Reversed connections prevent correct thermostatic regulation
  • Pipe sizing: Use minimum 3/4" BSP (20mm) supply lines for the primary hot and cold feeds
  • Exposed Parts Kit required: Purchase a compatible Jaquar Aquamax Exposed Parts Kit separately to complete the installation
  • Professional installation only: This is a complex thermostatic valve - must be installed by a certified plumber

FAQs

1) What is the key difference between the thermostatic models and the single lever model?

The thermostatic variants (ALD-681N and ALD-683N) use an automatic polymer cartridge that continuously senses and corrects the water temperature to maintain your pre-set level - even if pressure drops elsewhere in the building (such as when a toilet is flushed). The single lever variant (ALD-783N) requires manual adjustment of the lever to set the hot/cold mix - it does not self-correct for pressure fluctuations. The thermostatic models are recommended where anti-scald protection is a priority, particularly in homes with children or elderly users. The single lever model offers a higher flow rate and a simpler, more durable mechanical design.

2) Does this listing include the outer trim plate, control knobs, and levers?

No - this is the concealed body only - the internal brass valve mechanism that goes inside the wall during masonry. The outer trim plate, control knobs, handles, and levers are sold separately as a Jaquar Aquamax Exposed Parts Kit. The exposed kit is available in multiple finishes. You must select and purchase the matching exposed kit to complete the shower installation.

3) I only have two shower outlets - should I buy the 2-way or 3-way model?

If you have exactly two outlets - for example a rain shower head and a hand shower - select the 2-way thermostatic body (ALD-681N). If you purchase a 3-way body for a two-outlet setup, the unused third port must be permanently capped with a brass plug, which adds installation complexity. If there is any possibility of adding a third outlet in the future, the 3-way body can be specified with the third port capped for now and opened later.

4) Do I need a pressure booster pump for this system?

Not necessarily. All three models operate from as low as 0.2 Bar, covering most standard Indian residential overhead tank setups without a pump. However, for optimal rain shower performance - particularly with large-format 300mm+ rain heads - a sustained line pressure of 2.0 to 3.0 Bar is recommended. If your building's water pressure is consistently below 0.5 Bar, a booster pump will significantly improve the shower experience.

5) What happens if the hot and cold supply lines are connected to the wrong inlets?

The Aquamax valve bodies are directionally specific - hot supply must connect to the left inlet and cold to the right. If the lines are reversed, the thermostatic cartridge cannot regulate temperature correctly and the safety limiter will not function as designed. This must be corrected before the wall cavity is sealed and tiled. Your plumber should verify the orientation during the rough plumbing phase and pressure-test before proceeding to plastering.
