Product Description

Hettich Slide On 3447 is a concealed auto-closing hinge with regular close action, designed for standard furniture doors from 14mm to 25mm thick. The 105° opening angle provides full access to cabinet contents. BIS certified and backed by a 10-year performance warranty.

The key difference from standard models is the 4-hole mounting plate. Standard 2-hole hinges can loosen over time with frequent use, stripping the wood and causing doors to sag. The 4-hole design distributes load evenly across the cabinet panel, preventing sagging, reducing wear, and keeping doors aligned - making it suitable for both new installations and retrofitting loose or worn cabinet doors.

Key Features

  • 4-hole mounting plate: Superior load distribution vs standard 2-hole - prevents sagging and wood strip-out over time
  • Auto-closing action: Regular close mechanism pulls cabinet doors securely shut every time
  • 105° opening angle: Full access to cabinet interior
  • BIS certified: Meets Bureau of Indian Standards quality requirements
  • 10-year performance warranty: Backed by Hettich's long-term quality guarantee

FAQs

1) Which variant should I order - Full Overlay, Half Overlay, or Inset?

This depends on how your cabinet door sits relative to the cabinet frame. Full Overlay (Crank 0°) is for doors that completely cover the cabinet frame - the most common configuration in modern modular kitchens and wardrobes. Half Overlay (Crank 9.5°) is for cabinets where two doors share a common partition panel, each covering only half of it. Inset / Flush (Crank 16°) is for doors that sit inside the cabinet frame flush with its face. If unsure, check with your carpenter - the wrong crank will cause the door to sit at the wrong depth and not close properly.

2) What is the difference between this Non-Silent version and a soft-close hinge?

This is a regular close (non-silent) hinge - the door closes at normal speed with an audible click. A soft-close hinge has an integrated hydraulic damper that slows the door in the last few centimetres of travel for a silent, cushioned close. If quiet, cushioned closing is a priority - for bedroom wardrobes or children's rooms - a soft-close variant should be specified instead. The Hettich Slide On 3447 regular close is well suited for kitchens, utility cabinets, and high-use areas where durability and reliability matter more than silent operation.

3) Why does a 4-hole mounting plate matter over a standard 2-hole plate?

With a 2-hole mounting plate, the entire hinge load is transferred to just two screw points in the cabinet panel. With daily use, these two points can loosen, compress the wood fibres around them, and eventually cause the door to sag or the screws to strip out. The 4-hole plate spreads the load across four fixing points, reducing stress at each point and significantly extending the service life of both the hinge and the cabinet panel - particularly important in high-use cabinets like kitchen shutters.

4) Is this hinge compatible with my existing cabinet if I am replacing a worn hinge?

The Slide On 3447 uses a standard 35mm cup boring, which is the universal size for concealed hinges worldwide. It will fit any cabinet door that already has a 35mm hinge cup boring drilled. The mounting plate holes may differ from your existing plate, but the 4-hole plate can be installed using the existing or new screw positions on the cabinet frame. Confirm the overlay type (full, half, or inset) of your existing cabinet before ordering to select the correct crank variant.

5) How many hinges do I need per door?

For standard cabinet doors up to 1000mm tall and up to 20kg in weight, 2 hinges per door is the standard specification. Taller doors (1000mm to 1500mm) or heavier doors typically require 3 hinges. For very tall wardrobe doors above 1500mm, 3 to 4 hinges are recommended. Your carpenter will specify the correct number based on door height, weight, and material.
