Futura Single Bowl Kitchen Sink with Drainboard pairs a deep 8" bowl with a ribbed drainboard alongside it, in two sizes. Both come with a basket waste coupling included and a non-stick fry pan worth ₹999 in the box.

The drainboard is the reason to choose this over a plain single bowl, and it earns its counter space. Washed dishes, a colander of rinsed vegetables, or a pan left to dry all sit on the ribbed surface and drain straight back into the bowl rather than pooling on the counter. In a kitchen without a dishwasher — which is most Indian kitchens — it is the difference between a wet counter with a towel under everything, and water that simply runs away.

The material is grade 304 stainless steel (18/8) — 18% chromium, 8% nickel. Chromium forms the layer that resists rust; nickel is what stops the steel pitting under constant contact with salt, acidic food and detergent. Cheaper sinks are often 202 grade with little or no nickel — indistinguishable in a showroom, but pitted around the drain within a couple of years.

Both sizes take an 8" deep bowl, which handles a stacked pile of dishes or a large kadai below the rim and keeps splashes inside the sink. And unlike a dedicated undermount sink, these are shown for top mount, undermount or inset installation — so they can be dropped into an existing countertop as well as fitted under a new stone one.

Which Size Should I Choose?

Note that these differ in finish as well as size. The 36" x 18" is the decor finish, which is textured; the 40" x 20" is satin, which is brushed. That is why the smaller sink is not automatically the cheaper one — you are choosing a finish as much as a size.

1) Can this be fitted into my existing countertop?

Yes — and this is a real advantage over undermount-only sinks. These are shown for top mount, undermount or inset installation, so the sink can be lowered into a cut-out in an existing counter rather than requiring stone cut to a template. If you are replacing an old sink, measure the existing cut-out first.

2) What does the drainboard actually do for me?

It gives washed dishes, rinsed vegetables and drying pans somewhere to sit where the water runs back into the bowl rather than across the counter. In a kitchen without a dishwasher it removes the permanent wet patch and the towel underneath it.

3) Why is the smaller 36" sink not the cheaper one?

Because the two differ in finish as well as size. The 36" x 18" is the decor finish, which is textured; the 40" x 20" is satin, which is brushed. You are choosing a finish as much as a size, so compare both when deciding.

4) Which size will fit my kitchen?

Check the cabinet first: the 36" x 18" needs a minimum 18" base, the 40" x 20" needs 20". Then check the counter run — a drainboard sink is long, and you need clearance either side. If the cabinet is 18", the larger sink is not an option regardless of counter length.

5) Why does SS 304 matter compared with a cheaper sink?
