The chimney itself is Faber’s Class Pro 60 cm, with 1000 m³/hr of suction and a 3-layer stainless steel baffle filter. Because the baffles are solid steel rather than mesh, they never need replacing — you pull them out and wash them by hand or in a dishwasher. Against a mesh-filter chimney, that is a running cost you simply never pay.

Controls are deliberately plain: a 3-speed push button with a separate button for the light, so the lamp can be used without running the motor. Faber backs the motor for 12 years, with 1 year comprehensive cover on the rest.

Plan the duct route before installation day. The pipe has to reach a wall or window vent, and the shortest, straightest route performs best
Shorter ducting means better suction. Every extra metre and every bend costs airflow, so trim the pipe to your actual run rather than coiling the excess in the cabinet — coiled slack both restricts air and collects grease
You may also need clamps and aluminium duct tape to seal the joints at the chimney and the vent. An unsealed joint leaks greasy air straight back into the kitchen

3) Do I need the full 5 metres of pipe?

4) What is a baffle filter, and will it need replacing?

Baffle filters are curved stainless steel plates that force oily vapour to change direction sharply, separating grease from the airstream. Because they are solid steel rather than mesh, they never need replacing — wash them by hand or in a dishwasher every 4 to 6 weeks. That is an ongoing cost you avoid entirely against mesh-filter chimneys.

5) Is 1000 m³/hr enough for my kitchen?
