Alagar Super Plast Gypsum Plaster is a ready-mix, single-coat interior plaster made from natural gypsum. It replaces the traditional two-stage sand-cement plaster: apply it directly over bricks, AAC blocks and concrete in one coat up to 13 mm thick, and it dries to a smooth, white, even finish without water curing. One 25 kg bag covers about 24 – 27 sq ft at 12 mm, or 48 – 54 sq ft at 6 mm.
Unlike Plaster of Paris (POP), which is a thin decorative finish, Super Plast is a base plaster – it levels uneven masonry, corrects out-of-plumb walls and straightens crooked surfaces before putty and paint. It is for interior walls and ceilings only: gypsum softens with continuous water contact, so it is not suitable for exterior walls, open balconies, bathrooms, basements or areas with water leaks. Do not water-cure – let it dry naturally.

Not Recommended For
Important – Read Before Use
- Exterior Areas: Outer walls, open balconies and any exterior application
- Smooth or Non-Porous Surfaces: Glass, metal, laminates, wood or oil-painted surfaces
- Wet Areas: Bathrooms, basements and places with active water leaks
Application Guidelines
- Prepare the Surface: Clean off loose dust, sand, grease and shuttering oil so the plaster bonds well
- Mix: Add the powder into clean water (about 20 litres per 25 kg bag) – always powder into water. Mix mechanically for 4 – 5 minutes until smooth and lump-free
- Apply: Trowel onto the wall and build up evenly, up to 13 mm per coat, within the 15-minute working time
- Level & Finish: Level with an aluminium straight edge, then smooth with a steel trowel
- Dry Naturally: Do not water-cure. Allow at least 72 hours of drying with good ventilation before putty or paint
Recommendations & Ideal Use-Cases
Where this fits best
- Interior Walls: Directly over brickwork, concrete blocks and AAC blocks for a flat base
- Ceilings: Filling pinholes and smoothing concrete slab joints before paint
- Plaster Repair: Restoring uneven or rough old interior cement plaster
- Straightening: Correcting out-of-plumb walls and crooked columns before finishing
1) How much area does one 25 kg bag cover?
About 24 – 27 sq ft at 12 mm thickness, or 48 – 54 sq ft at 6 mm thickness. Actual coverage depends on how uneven the wall is.
2) How is it different from Plaster of Paris (POP)?
POP is a fast-setting decorative material used in thin layers for cornices and false ceilings, and is not meant as a base coat. Super Plast is a base plaster with a slower setting time of about 15 minutes, so masons can apply coats up to 13 mm thick to level uneven walls. POP is a finish; Super Plast is the base that goes under putty and paint.
3) How much water do I add to a 25 kg bag?
About 20 litres of clean water per 25 kg bag (1 part water to 1.25 parts powder, by weight). Always add the powder into the water to avoid lumps, and mix for 4 – 5 minutes until smooth. Don't add extra water or powder once the mix starts setting.
4) Can I use it on exterior walls or in bathrooms?
No. Gypsum softens with continuous water contact, so it is for interior walls and ceilings only. Don't use it on outer walls, open balconies, bathrooms, basements or areas with water leaks – use cement plaster there instead. It is also not suitable over glass, metal, laminates, wood or oil-painted surfaces.
5) How long before I can apply putty and paint?
Allow at least 72 hours of natural drying with good ventilation. Do not water-cure – gypsum gains strength by drying, not curing. Make sure there are no damp patches before painting, as trapped moisture causes peeling.
6) How should I store the bags on site?
Keep bags on raised pallets in a dry, covered area, off the ground and away from humidity. Moisture makes the powder lump and lose its setting properties. Check the manufacturing date – shelf life is 12 months.
