Chimney Aluminium Pipe - 5 Meter
- Product: Flexible aluminium ducting pipe for kitchen chimneys
- Length: 5 metres (expanded)
- Diameter: 5.5 inches
- Material: Aluminium
- Construction: Flexible and expandable — bends around obstacles without joints
- Heat resistant: Suited to hot kitchen exhaust air
- Use: Carries chimney exhaust from the hood to an outside wall or window vent
- Fits: Most wall-mounted kitchen chimneys — check your outlet diameter first
Chimney Aluminium Pipe is flexible aluminium ducting that carries cooking smoke, steam and grease-laden air from your kitchen chimney out through a wall or window vent. It is the part that actually gets the fumes out of the house — the chimney only moves them as far as the duct.
Being flexible is the point. A kitchen duct almost never runs in a straight line: it has to clear a cabinet, turn towards a vent, and reach an opening that is rarely directly behind the hood. Flexible aluminium bends around all of that in one continuous run, with no elbow joints to fabricate and no extra connections to leak at. Aluminium also handles the heat of cooking exhaust and does not corrode from the steam and grease passing through it.
Before You Order — Check the Diameter
- The pipe must match your chimney's outlet diameter. This is the one measurement that decides whether it can be connected at all — measure the outlet spigot on your chimney before ordering
- Buy the length you actually need, not the longest available. Every extra metre of ducting costs suction. If your run is 2 metres, a 5 metre pipe with 3 metres coiled in the cabinet will perform worse than a 2 metre one
- You will also need clamps and aluminium duct tape to seal the joints at the chimney and the wall vent. An unsealed joint leaks greasy air back into the cabinet
- Buying a new chimney? Many chimneys are supplied with a standard duct pipe already — check before ordering a second one. This is usually bought as a replacement, or as an extension for a high ceiling or a long duct run
Key Features
- Flexible and expandable: Bends around cabinets and beams in one continuous run, with no elbow joints
- Aluminium construction: Handles hot exhaust and resists corrosion from steam and grease
- 5 metre length: Covers high ceilings and longer runs to a distant vent
- Cut to length: Trim the excess rather than coiling it, so suction is not wasted
- Lightweight: Easy for one person to route and position during installation
1) Will this fit my chimney?
Only if the diameter matches your chimney's outlet. Measure the outlet spigot on your chimney before ordering — kitchen chimneys are not all the same size, and a pipe that does not match cannot be connected. If you are unsure, send us a photo of the outlet with a measurement and we will confirm.
2) Should I buy the longest pipe to be safe?
No — and this catches people out. Every extra metre of ducting reduces suction, and so does every bend. Coiling three spare metres inside the cabinet makes the chimney work harder for less airflow, and the slack collects grease. Buy close to the length you need and keep the run as short and straight as you can.
3) Can I cut it shorter?
Yes, and usually you should. Trim it to the length of your actual run rather than leaving the excess coiled. Cut cleanly, and seal the joint properly with a clamp and aluminium duct tape at each end.
4) Why is my chimney's suction poor even though it is a powerful model?
Very often it is the ducting rather than the chimney. A long run, several sharp bends, coiled slack, or an unsealed joint will each cost airflow, and together they can make a 1500 m³/hr chimney feel weak. Shortening and straightening the duct is usually the fix.
5) Does it need cleaning or replacing?
Grease builds up inside kitchen ducting over the years, which restricts airflow and is a fire risk in a duct carrying hot air. Inspect it periodically, and replace the pipe if it is heavily coated, damaged, or crushed — it is an inexpensive part to renew.
