Asian Paints Tractor Sparc Interior Emulsion is the economy interior wall emulsion in the Tractor range, here in 10 litre and 20 litre packs — the sizes for painting a whole house rather than touching up a room.

It does one job well: covering interior walls with a clean, smooth matt finish at the lowest cost per square foot. For a rental property, a builder handover, a whole-house repaint on a budget, or any interior that gets redecorated every few years, paying for a premium washable emulsion is money spent on durability you will repaint over anyway. Tractor Sparc is the sensible specification for exactly those situations, and it is why contractors buy it by the 20 litre bucket.

It is equally important to be clear about what it is not. Tractor Sparc is not a washable emulsion. Marks, scuffs and fingerprints cannot be scrubbed off, and attempting it will burnish or lift the finish. For a child's bedroom, a hallway, a kitchen wall or anywhere that gets handled and cleaned, a washable interior emulsion is the right choice — it costs more per litre and is worth it in those rooms.

Coverage is roughly 120 to 140 sq ft per litre over two coats on a properly primed, smooth surface. Work your own area out before ordering rather than guessing — running short mid-wall means a visible join, and a second batch may not match exactly.

Which Pack Size Do I Need?

Measure, then add a margin. Wall area is roughly (perimeter of the room x wall height), less large windows and doors. Coverage figures assume a properly primed, smooth surface — fresh plaster and porous or previously unpainted walls absorb considerably more, so allow extra. Buying one larger pack is also safer than two smaller ones, since batches can vary very slightly in shade.

1) How much paint do I need?

At roughly 120–140 sq ft per litre over two coats, a 10 L pack covers about 1,200–1,400 sq ft and 20 L about 2,400–2,800 sq ft. Calculate your wall area as roughly (room perimeter × wall height), less large doors and windows, then add a margin. Fresh plaster and porous walls absorb considerably more.

2) Is “Base White” just white paint, or can I get a colour?

Supplied as it comes, it is white. “Base White” means it is the base product that a tinting machine adds colorant to in order to produce a shade. If you want a colour, check with us before ordering — tinting has to be arranged, and once a base has been tinted it cannot be returned.

3) Can I wipe marks off these walls?

No — Tractor Sparc is not a washable emulsion. Marks will not scrub off, and scrubbing will burnish or lift the finish. For hallways, children's rooms, kitchens or any wall that gets handled, choose a washable interior emulsion instead. It costs more per litre and is worth it in those rooms.

4) Do I really need a primer?

Yes. A primer seals a porous wall so the emulsion sits on the surface rather than soaking into it. Skip it and you will use noticeably more paint, get patchy coverage, and end up with a weaker bond. We stock Trucare Sparc Interior Primer in matching 10 L and 20 L packs.

5) Should I buy two 10 L packs or one 20 L?

If you need close to 20 litres, buy the single 20 L pack. Paint batches can vary very slightly in shade, and while it is rarely visible, using one batch across a whole property removes the risk entirely — particularly on long walls where a join would show.
