Dr. Fixit Dampguard Classic (104) is a water-dilutable, two-component epoxy coating for persistent internal masonry dampness, peeling paint and efflorescence. It resists strong negative water pressure, so it stops paint blistering from damp pushing out from behind the wall, and it can be applied over damp concrete and freshly cured plaster. It is CFTRI certified and potable water safe for RCC water tanks, and it resists mould and algae. Mixed with cement it also makes a waterproof putty for cracks up to 5 mm. It is only for walls, ceilings and tanks — it will not cure rising dampness coming up from the ground.
Key Features
- Negative Water Pressure Resistance: Penetrates damp concrete and plaster and blocks water vapour pushing from behind the wall, stopping blistering and flaking
- Potable Water Safe and Anti-Fungal: CFTRI certified for drinking water tanks, and resists mould, algae and fungal growth on indoor surfaces
- Works on Damp Surfaces, Doubles as Crack Putty: Applies over damp concrete, and mixed with cement fills cracks up to 5 mm

Recommended Application Steps
- Strip the Surface: Remove all loose paint, scaling putty, lime and old coatings down to bare plaster, then wire-brush and sand with emery paper
- Mix the Coating: Stir the base and hardener separately, mix them together into a smooth paste, then dilute with an equal volume of water (1 : 1 : 1) to a brushable consistency. Use it within 40 minutes at 30°C
- Apply Two Coats: Brush two continuous coats straight onto the damp masonry, 6 to 8 hours apart
- Cure: Let it cure for at least 24 hours before cement plaster, wall putty or paint
- Crack Putty (Optional): For cracks up to 5 mm, mix 1 part blended Dampguard (base + hardener) with 1 part cement. Do not add water. Pack it firmly into the cleaned crack
- Water Tanks: Cure for 3 to 4 days after the final coat, then wash the whole surface thoroughly with clean water before filling

1) Can I apply it directly over existing wall paint?
No. Scrape off all existing paint, loose putty and lime finishes down to bare plaster first. Over paint, the epoxy can't penetrate the plaster, so it blisters and peels.
2) How do I mix it as a crack-filler putty?
Blend 1 part base and 1 part hardener, then mix that blended Dampguard with 1 part cement, ordinary Portland or white. Do not add water. Clean out cracks or grooves up to 5 mm and pack the mixture in firmly.
3) Can it cure rising dampness coming up from the ground?
No. It is made for internal wall dampness, wall patches, ceilings and water tanks. It is not suitable for capillary rising dampness from a low water table, which needs specialised DPC injection methods.
4) Is a treated tank safe for drinking water?
Yes. It is CFTRI certified non-toxic and potable water safe. After the final coat, let it cure completely for 3 to 4 days, then wash the entire surface thoroughly with plenty of clean water on a damp sponge or cloth before you fill the tank.
5) How long can I use the mix?
The working time is 40 minutes at 30°C after mixing. Mix only what you can apply in that time. The coating mix is 1 base : 1 hardener : 1 water by volume, and the crack putty uses no water.
6) Which pack size should I choose?
The 500 g pack suits small spot dampness fixes, bathroom adjoining wall repairs and hairline crack patching. The 1 kg pack suits multi-wall ceiling treatments, small residential RCC water tanks and kitchen splash zones.
