Asian Paints Ace Sparc Exterior Emulsion is the economy exterior wall paint in the Ace range, here in 10 litre and 20 litre packs for painting a full building rather than patching a wall.

Exterior paint does a fundamentally harder job than interior paint, and it is worth understanding what it is up against. An outside wall takes direct sun, UV, rain, and the constant wet-dry cycling that drives fungal and algal growth — none of which an interior wall ever sees. That is why exterior emulsions are formulated differently, cost more per square foot, and cover roughly half the area per litre: the surfaces are rougher and far more porous.

Asian Paints positions Ace Sparc for moderately humid conditions, and that phrase is worth taking at face value. It is the right specification for compound and boundary walls, sheltered elevations, outbuildings, garages, budget repaints and rental property — exteriors where you want sound protection at the lowest cost per square foot, and where the wall is not taking the worst of the weather.

It is not the right specification for a facade that takes months of driven monsoon rain. In Bengaluru that usually means the south and west elevations, which are the hardest exterior exposure a building here sees. For those walls a premium exterior emulsion costs more per litre and is designed for exactly that punishment — and a whole-house repaint is not something you want to redo in two years.

Is Ace Sparc Right for Your Walls?

  • Good fit: compound and boundary walls, sheltered elevations, outbuildings, garages, rental property, and budget repaints where cost per square foot is the priority
  • Not the right fit: facades taking heavy driven monsoon rain, typically south and west elevations in Bengaluru. For those, use a premium exterior emulsion — ask us and we will point you at one
  • “Base White” is a tinting base. It is white as supplied. If you want a colour — and most exterior repaints are colour decisions — check with us before ordering. Once a base has been tinted it cannot be returned
  • You will need an exterior primer. Interior primer is not a substitute on an outside wall. Ask us what to use before you order the paint
  • Do not paint an exterior during the monsoon. The surface must be dry and needs a dry spell to cure — painting into the rain is the commonest reason an exterior job fails early

Which Pack Size Do I Need?

Pack Approx. coverage Typically suits
10 litre Approx. 540–650 sq ft per coat A compound wall, a small building, or one elevation of a house
20 litre Approx. 1,080–1,300 sq ft per coat A full house exterior, or contractor use across a project

Remember you need two coats, so a wall area of 600 sq ft needs roughly 1,200 sq ft of paint coverage in total. Verify the coverage figure on the pack label before you buy — and allow extra for rough, porous or previously unpainted surfaces, which drink considerably more than a smooth one. Exterior coverage is roughly half what you would get indoors, so do not size this from an interior job.

Key Features

  • Formulated for exterior exposure: Built for sun, rain and the wet-dry cycling an outside wall lives through
  • Lowest cost per square foot in Asian Paints' exterior emulsion range
  • Contractor pack sizes: 10 L and 20 L, so a whole building comes from one batch
  • Water-based emulsion: Low odour, and tools wash out in water
  • Backed by a 2-year warranty from Asian Paints
  • Right specification for compound walls, sheltered elevations and budget repaints — where a premium exterior would be paying for protection the wall does not need

Preparing an Exterior Wall

Preparation Matters More Outside Than Inside

  1. Wait for dry weather. The wall must be dry and you need a dry spell for the paint to cure. Do not start an exterior job in the monsoon
  2. Remove all loose and flaking paint, back to a sound surface. Paint sticks to the wall, not to the failing coat on it
  3. Treat fungal and algal growth before painting, not after. Painting over green or black growth traps it, and it will come back through the new coat
  4. Fill cracks properly and let them cure. We stock Asian Paints SmartCare Crack Seal, which is rated for exterior as well as interior use
  5. Prime with an exterior primer. This seals a porous wall so the emulsion sits on it rather than soaking in. Interior primer is not a substitute outdoors
  6. Apply two coats, thinned as the pack specifies, allowing full drying between them
  7. Work with the sun, not against it. Painting a wall in direct hot sun dries the film too fast and leaves lap marks — follow the shade around the building

1) How much paint do I need?

At roughly 5–6 sq m (54–65 sq ft) per litre, a 10 L pack covers about 540–650 sq ft per coat and 20 L about 1,080–1,300 sq ft per coat. You need two coats, so double that for your wall area. Allow extra for rough or previously unpainted surfaces, and verify the figure on the pack before ordering.

2) Why does exterior paint cover so much less than interior?

Because exterior surfaces are rougher and far more porous. A plastered interior wall is smooth; an external wall has texture that takes considerably more paint to fill and cover. Roughly half the coverage per litre is normal, so never size an exterior job from an interior figure.

3) Will it stand up to the Bengaluru monsoon?

It depends which wall. Asian Paints specifies Ace Sparc for moderately humid conditions, which suits compound walls, sheltered elevations and outbuildings. For a facade taking months of driven monsoon rain — usually the south and west elevations here — a premium exterior emulsion is the right specification. It costs more per litre, and a whole-house repaint is not something you want to do twice.

4) Can I use my interior primer outside?

No. Exterior walls need an exterior primer, formulated for the moisture and UV an outside surface takes. Interior primer will not hold up, and priming is what stops a porous wall drinking your topcoat. Ask us what to use before ordering the paint.

5) Is “Base White” just white, or can I get a colour?

As supplied it is white. “Base White” means it is the base a tinting machine adds colorant to in order to make a shade. Most exterior repaints are colour decisions, so check with us before ordering if you want a shade — tinting has to be arranged, and a tinted base cannot be returned.

  1. Return within 24 hours of delivery for:
    • Damaged or defective product
    • Wrong or missing item
  2. Product cannot be returned once installed or used
  3. Refer to Refund Policy for complete details

Please check the pack seal and size on delivery. Opened paint, and any base that has been tinted to a shade, cannot be accepted for return.
