The Wipro 16A Wi-Fi Smart Plug with Energy Monitoring (DSP1160) is a high-capacity 16A smart socket designed specifically to handle heavy-duty household appliances like geysers, microwave ovens, and air conditioners. Its space-optimized, stackable design allows you to stack two of them neatly inside a single standard dual modular wall outlet, freeing up space and ensuring you can power multiple high-load devices simultaneously.

Featuring built-in energy monitoring, the plug tracks real-time power metrics, current load, and historical energy usage via the companion smartphone application, helping you monitor high-wattage appliance consumption and eliminate power waste. It connects directly over standard 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks without needing a standalone smart gateway or third-party hub.

It is fully compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for hands-free automation routines and device toggling. This heavy-duty plug is ideal for pre-cooling rooms by controlling split or window air conditioners, scheduling bathroom water heaters for efficient morning routines, or safeguarding heavy kitchen appliances with automated cut-offs.

Technical Specifications

Why Buy from HomeRun?

1) What is the main difference between Wipro's 10A plug and this 16A model?

The 10A plug (DSP1100) is built for lightweight electronics like TVs, chargers, and small kettles. This 16A heavy-duty plug (DSP1160) features reinforced copper paths and components rated for large power surges from heavy appliances like geysers and air conditioners.

2) Will a 16A smart plug fit directly into my standard small living room wall socket?

No. A 16A appliance plug uses larger physical power pins (Type M configuration). It will only fit into dedicated large power sockets (typically found near kitchen counters, laundry areas, or geyser connections) and will not plug into standard small 5A/10A outlets.

3) What happens to my scheduled timers if the home Wi-Fi network temporarily disconnects?

The internal microcontroller chip securely saves your active schedules locally. If the network goes offline, the pre-programmed timers will continue to turn the socket on or off at the correct hours. However, real-time app adjustments and voice commands will require a stable connection.

4) How does the energy monitoring feature help reduce electricity bills?

The plug streams precise electrical metrics straight to the mobile dashboard. By tracking the heavy live operational costs of items like heaters or AC units, you can create smart automation loops to shut off the switch entirely when they are not needed.

5) Will this device function correctly on a hybrid 5 GHz dual-band router setup?

The smart plug uses a standard 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi radio module for maximum range and wall penetration. During initial pairing, ensure your phone is temporarily connected to the 2.4 GHz band of your router; once configuration completes, you can manage the plug regardless of which band your mobile is on.
