Downloads — Data Sheet & Installation Guide

Jaquar Angular Stop Cock is the small isolating valve that sits between a wall supply and a fitting — a basin tap, a health faucet, a cistern or a geyser inlet — turning the water through 90 degrees and letting you shut off that one fitting on its own. Available here in two ranges: Astra and Kubix Prime.

The value of an angle valve is out of all proportion to its price, and it is a maintenance decision more than a plumbing one. Without one, servicing a dripping tap means shutting off water to the entire bathroom or the whole flat. With one, you close a single valve and get on with the job. A bathroom fitted without angle valves is irritating to live with for the next twenty years.

What separates these from a generic angle cock is that both are quarter turn. A traditional valve seals by compressing a rubber washer against a seat, and rubber perishes — which is exactly why old angle cocks start weeping, and why tightening them harder only buys a few months. A quarter turn valve seals with two ceramic discs that rotate 90 degrees against each other. Ceramic does not perish, there is no washer to replace, and the handle moves from fully open to fully shut in a single quarter turn. Jaquar rates the mechanism at 200,000 cycles to EN 200.

The pressure figures are worth reading if you live above the lower floors. Recommended working pressure is 0.5 to 5 bar, but the valve passes water tightness at 16 bar and resists 25 bar — five times its rated maximum. In an upper-floor high-rise, where static head pushes supply pressure well beyond what a domestic valve normally sees, that margin is the difference between a valve that holds and a burst fitting behind a vanity.

Both variants are solid brass, chrome plated, take a standard 15 mm (½" BSP) connection, and are supplied with a matching wall flange — the chrome plate that covers the rough opening where the pipe leaves the wall. Without it, the installation looks unfinished.

Which Range Should I Choose?

  Astra — AQT-CHR-3057 Kubix Prime — KUP-CHR-35053PM
Handle Triangular handle Kubix Prime styling — squared geometry
Mechanism Quarter turn, ceramic disc Quarter turn, ceramic disc
Wall Flange Included Included
Best matched to General use, and bathrooms fitted with Astra or mixed Jaquar fittings Bathrooms fitted with the Kubix Prime range, so the valve matches the taps

Mechanically they do the same job to the same standard. Choose on styling — an angle valve sits in plain view beneath a basin, so it is worth matching it to the taps rather than leaving one fitting that does not belong. If your bathroom is being fitted in Kubix Prime, take the Kubix Prime valve.

Key Features

  • Quarter turn ceramic disc: No rubber washer to perish, so it does not develop the slow weep that ends every traditional angle cock
  • Individual isolation: Service one tap without shutting off the bathroom or the flat
  • 200,000 cycle life to EN 200: Decades of daily use at any realistic frequency
  • Tested to 16 bar water tightness and 25 bar resistance: Genuine margin over the 0.5–5 bar it will normally see — important in an upper-floor flat
  • Approx. 21.2 LPM at 3 bar: Enough flow that it will not choke a health faucet or a geyser feed
  • Solid brass body, chrome plated: Resists corrosion in a permanently damp under-basin position
  • Wall flange included: Covers the rough wall opening for a finished look, with no separate purchase
  • Standard 15 mm (½" BSP): Fits ordinary Indian plumbing without adaptation

Before You Order — How Many Do You Need?

  • Count one per supply point, not one per bathroom. A typical bathroom needs a valve for the basin tap, the health faucet, the cistern and often the geyser inlet — so three or four, not one
  • Order them together. Buying one and discovering you need three means paying delivery twice
  • You will also need connection pipes or hoses from each valve to its fitting — sold separately, in braided steel or PVC
  • Match the range to your taps. An angle valve is visible under a basin, so a mismatched one is noticeable every day
  • Do not over-tighten on installation. Use PTFE tape on the threads and tighten firmly, not brutally — over-tightening is the most common cause of a brand-new valve leaking

Recommended Applications

Where this valve is used

  • Wash basin taps and mixers: Isolate the basin without touching the rest of the bathroom
  • Health faucets and jet sprays: The standard control point for a wall-mounted sprayer
  • Geyser and water heater inlets: A dedicated shut-off on the feed to the heater
  • Toilet cisterns: Stop the supply to a running or leaking cistern in seconds
  • Kitchen sinks and washing machine feeds: Same isolating function outside the bathroom
  • High-rise flats: The 16 bar tightness and 25 bar resistance give margin over upper-floor supply pressure

1) Why does this cost more than an ordinary angle cock?

Because of how it seals. A traditional valve compresses a rubber washer against a seat, and rubber perishes — which is why old angle cocks start weeping and why tightening them harder only buys a few months. This is a quarter turn valve sealing on two ceramic discs. Ceramic does not perish, there is no washer to replace, and Jaquar rates the mechanism at 200,000 cycles to EN 200. You are paying for the failure mode not happening.

2) What does an angle valve actually do, and do I need one?

It is an isolating valve for a single fitting. Close it and you can service a tap, health faucet or cistern without turning off water to the rest of the bathroom or the flat. It is worth fitting one at every supply point — a bathroom without them means a full shut-off every time anything needs attention.

3) How many should I order?

Count your supply points, not your bathrooms. A typical bathroom needs one for the basin tap, one for the health faucet, one for the cistern, and often one for the geyser inlet — so three or four. Order them together rather than discovering the shortfall mid-installation.

4) Is the wall flange included?

Yes — both variants ship with a matching chrome wall flange. That is the plate that covers the rough opening where the pipe comes out of the wall. Without one the installation looks unfinished, and some brands charge for it separately.

5) Astra or Kubix Prime — which should I choose?

Styling, not performance. Both are quarter turn ceramic disc valves in solid brass with a wall flange, built to the same standard. The Astra has a triangular handle and suits general use; the Kubix Prime carries that range's squared geometry and matches Kubix Prime taps. An angle valve sits in plain view under a basin, so if your bathroom is being fitted in Kubix Prime, take the matching valve.
