1) Is this powerful enough for grinding down welds or steel sections?

No, and it is not meant to be. At 105 W with a 10 mm maximum wheel, this is a precision tool for deburring, engraving and polishing. For grinding down a weld or dressing a steel section, use an angle grinder or a larger 25 mm die grinder. Used within its brief, it does work no bigger tool can.

2) Will my existing die grinder bits fit?

Check the shank before ordering. This takes a 3 mm collet, while most carbide burrs and mounted points sold in India have a 6 mm (1/4") shank — those will not fit. You need 3 mm shank accessories, and we can point you at them.

3) What is the variable speed actually for?

Matching the tool to the material. High speed suits hard steel and carbide burrs; lower speed suits soft metals, plastics and polishing, where too much speed melts the material, clogs the abrasive, or burns the surface. It is often the difference between a clean finish and a ruined part.

4) Can I use it for engraving?
