Asian Paints Tractor Sparc is an economy interior wall emulsion built for one job: replacing distemper without replacing your budget. It gives a smooth emulsion finish on interior walls at a price close to distemper, and covers 1.5 times the area per litre that distemper does — which is where the real saving sits, because you buy less paint for the same wall.
The numbers are worth understanding before you order. Coverage is 240–260 sq.ft per litre for a single coat, but Asian Paints recommends two coats, which works out to 120–140 sq.ft per litre in practice. Use the two-coat figure when calculating quantity — the single-coat number is what causes people to run short halfway through a room.
One thing to be clear about: Tractor Sparc is not a washable paint. Asian Paints states this directly. It suits bedrooms, ceilings, guest rooms, rental properties, and any interior where you want a clean emulsion finish economically. For kitchens, children's rooms, or high-traffic hallways where walls get wiped down, a washable emulsion is the better buy — it costs more upfront and lasts considerably longer in those conditions.
It carries a 2-year performance warranty from Asian Paints.
About "Base White" — Please Read
- This is the white base. As supplied, it is white paint and can be used straight from the tin
- Tractor Sparc is also available in 2200+ shades, which are produced by tinting this base on a dealer's tinting machine — colourant is added and mixed to your chosen shade
- If you want a colour rather than white, the tin needs to be tinted. Check with us before ordering so we can advise on the options
- Tinted paint is mixed to order and cannot normally be returned, so confirm your shade before it is machine-mixed
- Buy all your paint for one job at once. Tinted batches can differ very slightly between mixes — for a continuous wall, one batch avoids any visible variation

- Water-based: Low odour, and tools clean up in water

How Much Paint Do I Need?
| Pack Size | Approx. area at 2 coats | Typically suits |
|---|---|---|
| 1 L | 120–140 sq.ft | Touch-ups, a single feature wall, small repairs |
| 4 L | 480–560 sq.ft | A typical bedroom, or one room's walls |
These figures assume a smooth, primed masonry surface. Rough, porous, or unprimed walls absorb noticeably more. Asian Paints also makes Tractor Sparc in 10 L and 20 L packs for larger jobs — ask us if you need them.
Complete System — Asian Paints' Recommended Sequence
- Step 0 — Fill cracks: SmartCare Crack Seal on any cracks before you start
- Step 1 — Primer, 1 coat: Trucare Sparc Interior Primer
- Step 2 — Putty, 2 coats: Acrylic Wall Putty to level the surface
- Step 3 — Primer, 1 coat: Trucare Sparc Interior Primer again, over the putty
- Step 4 — Top coat, 2 coats: Tractor Sparc
- Skipping the primer is the most common cause of patchy coverage and poor adhesion — it costs more in extra top coat than the primer saves
Recommended Applications
Where this paint fits best
- Bedrooms and guest rooms: Low-traffic interiors where washability isn't critical
- Ceilings: Smooth white finish at economical cost
- Rental properties: Refreshing between tenants without premium spend
- Upgrading from distemper: A real emulsion finish at close to distemper cost
- Large-area repaints: Where total litres matter more than premium features
1) Is this white paint, or can I get it in a colour?
As supplied, this is the white base and can be used straight from the tin. Tractor Sparc is also available in 2200+ shades, which are made by tinting this base on a dealer's tinting machine. If you want a colour rather than white, check with us before ordering — and note that tinted paint is mixed to order and cannot normally be returned.
2) How much will one tin cover?
240–260 sq.ft per litre for one coat, or 120–140 sq.ft per litre at the recommended two coats. Always calculate on the two-coat figure. Rough or unprimed walls absorb more, so add a margin.
3) Is Tractor Sparc washable?
No — Asian Paints confirms it does not have washability features. For kitchens, children's rooms, and high-traffic hallways where walls get wiped, choose a washable emulsion instead. Tractor Sparc suits bedrooms, ceilings, and low-traffic interiors.
4) How much water do I add?
50–60% dilution with water, whether you're using a brush, roller, or spray. Over-thinning beyond that reduces coverage and hiding, which costs you more paint, not less.
5) Can I paint a newly plastered wall straight away?
No. New masonry needs to cure for 28 days before painting. Painting fresh plaster traps moisture and alkali behind the film, which causes peeling and patchiness within months. Apply primer first, then two coats of Tractor Sparc.
