Asian Paints WoodTech Touchwood Interior & Exterior 1K PU | Glossy Wood Finish is a single-pack, polyurethane-modified clear coating for interior and exterior wood. It is ready to use from one can with no hardener to mix, and can be applied quickly with just a brush. It gives a high-gloss, mirror-like finish that brings out the natural wood grain and offers better hardness and protection than local French polish.

Touchwood is self-sealing: the same material works as the pore-sealing undercoat and the final topcoat, so you don't need a separate sealer coat. This saves both material cost and working time, making it an economical choice. It flows smoothly to level out brush marks and leaves a tough, scratch-resistant film for doors, windows, panelling, furniture and cabinets. Available in 500 ml, 1 L and 4 L packs.

1) How is Touchwood 1K PU different from a 2K PU finish?

Touchwood is a 1K (single-pack) coating that comes ready in one can and dries without a hardener. A 2K PU needs a base and hardener mixed accurately just before use. 2K systems can give a harder finish, but Touchwood is preferred for its simple preparation, lower cost and easy brush application.

2) Do I need a separate sealer or primer?

No, it is self-sealing. Thin the first coat a little more with MTO so it seals the pores of the wood. Once it has cured and been lightly sanded, the next coats work as the final glossy topcoat.

3) Can I apply it over stained wood?

Yes. After applying WoodTech Wood Stain, let it dry for 30 – 120 minutes before applying Touchwood, so the brush doesn't drag or smear the colour. If you're using a new stain combination, test on a small area first.

4) How long before I can sand or recoat?

It is surface dry in about 60 minutes and tack-free in about 4 hours, but wait a full 16 hours (or overnight) before sanding or applying the next coat. Sanding too early can tear or wrinkle the soft layer underneath.

5) What should I use to thin it?

Use only Mineral Turpentine Oil (MTO): 10 – 15% by volume for brush or rag, and up to 20 – 25% for spray. NC thinner, petrol or other thinners can break down the coating and make it cloudy.

6) Can I use it on exterior wood?

Yes. Touchwood can be used on both interior and exterior wooden surfaces such as doors, windows and frames. Outdoor wood faces sun and rain, so inspect exterior surfaces regularly and apply a fresh maintenance coat when the gloss starts to fade.
