Asian Paints Apcolite Premium Satin Enamel is a premium oil-based enamel with a soft, refined satin sheen that hides minor imperfections. BioPack anti-fungal technology helps prevent mould and fungus in humid spots such as kitchens and bathrooms, and the tough film resists stains and cleans easily. It comes in black and white in 1 Litre and 4 Litre packs, and suits wooden furniture, kitchen cabinets, doors, interior woodwork, and wooden and metal gates and grills.

Surface Preparation: Clean thoroughly, sand smooth, and remove dust, grease and old flaking paint
Primer: Apply wood primer on wood or metal primer on metal, and let it dry completely
Thin the Enamel: Use Mineral Turpentine Oil (MTO) — 8–10% by volume (80–100 ml per litre) for brush or roller, or 15–20% (150–200 ml per litre) for spray. Stir thoroughly
First Coat: Apply a thin, even coat
Second Coat: Wait the full 16 to 18 hours, lightly sand the first coat, then apply the second coat for a smooth satin finish

Satin enamel has a soft sheen and a refined look that is less reflective and hides minor imperfections. Glossy enamel has a high-gloss, mirror-like shine that is very reflective and shows imperfections. Choose satin for a sophisticated look, glossy for maximum shine.

3) Can I use satin enamel on metal surfaces?

Yes, it works on both wood and metal. Use a metal primer before application. Satin is more popular on wooden furniture and cabinets, while a glossy finish is traditionally preferred for metal gates and grills.

4) How much does a litre cover?

Coverage is 110–130 sq ft per litre per coat on ideal smooth, non-porous wood or metal, the same as the Glossy variant. Rough or porous surfaces will take more.

5) How long does it take to dry, and when can I recoat?

It is touch dry in about 3 hours, but you must wait 16 to 18 hours before the second coat. Recoating a solvent-based alkyd enamel at 6–8 hours traps uncured oils underneath and causes surface tackiness, wrinkling and a patchy finish.

6) How much thinner should I add?
