M-Seal Phataphat is a fast-curing, two-part epoxy putty from Pidilite for quick repairs around the home, workshop and site. The 90 g pack contains two separately sealed blocks – resin and hardener – that you knead together in equal parts until they form an even grey putty. The mouldable compound then fills gaps, cracks and leaking joints.

It sets in just 25 – 30 minutes at room temperature, so plumbing and machinery are back in use quickly, and reaches full strength in 24 hours. Once cured, it is hard, waterproof and weatherproof, resists moisture and mild chemicals, and grips metal, wood, glass, ceramic, concrete and plastics. The hardened putty can be drilled, filed, sanded or painted to blend in with the surface.

1) How do I know it is mixed properly?

The resin and hardener come in different colours. Knead them together with your fingers until they blend into one even grey colour with no streaks. If light or dark lines remain, the putty may cure unevenly and the repair could fail.

2) Can I apply it on a wet or running leak?

For the strongest bond, shut off the water first, then clean and dry the pipe and remove any rust or grease. Apply the putty, let it harden fully, and only then turn the water back on.

3) How long do I have to work with it after mixing?

About 10 minutes at 30 °C. Apply and shape the putty straight after mixing, and avoid moving or reshaping it after this time, as it will already be starting to set.

4) Can it be used on hot pipes or exhausts?

It handles normal room heat and mild hot water, but it is not meant for steam lines, open flame areas or engine exhausts. For very high temperatures, use a specialised high-temperature sealant.

5) Will it stick to plastic or PVC pipes?

Yes. For smooth plastic or PVC, lightly roughen the surface with sandpaper or emery cloth first so the putty can grip better.
