Viking PTFE Teflon Thread Seal Tape creates reliable, leak-free threaded connections in plumbing. Wrapped around male threads, the PTFE tape fills the tiny gaps between male and female threads, stopping water and air leaks while still letting fittings be assembled and taken apart easily. The 12 mm width suits standard plumbing threads, and each 10 m roll covers many joints.
The non-sticky tape also lubricates the threads as you tighten, so fittings turn smoothly without seizing or galling. PTFE resists most chemicals and handles a wide temperature range, and unlike liquid sealants it needs no curing time – the joint is ready to use straight away. Use it on brass threaded adapters, ball valves, taps, tank fittings and all threaded water connections.

How to Apply
- Clean the Threads: Remove old tape, dirt and debris; make sure the threads are dry
- Start the Wrap: Hold the tape end on the second thread from the pipe end
- Wrap Clockwise: Wrap in the same direction the fitting tightens, 3 – 4 full turns, overlapping each turn by about half
- Press In: Tear off the tape and press it into the threads with your finger – the threads should still be visible
- Tighten: Hand-tighten first, then give 1 – 2 final turns with a spanner; don't over-tighten
Recommendations & Ideal Use-Cases
Where this fits best
- CPVC Brass Fittings: Threaded brass adapters, unions and connectors
- Water Supply Lines: Taps, showers, geysers and fixture connections
- Valves: Threaded ball valves and shut-off valves
- Overhead Tanks: Tank nipples, float valves and tank connections
- Compressed Air: Pneumatic and air compressor fittings
1) How many wraps should I apply?
For standard plumbing, apply 3 – 4 wraps on the male thread; for pipes above 1 inch, use 4 – 5 wraps. The tape should fill the thread valleys while the threads remain visible. Too little tape leaks, while too much can crack fittings or stop the threads engaging properly.
2) Which direction should I wrap it?
Always wrap clockwise when looking at the pipe end – the same direction you turn the fitting to tighten it. This keeps the tape in place as you tighten. Wrapping the wrong way makes the tape bunch up and unwind, causing leaks.
3) Can I use it on CPVC solvent-weld joints?
No. PTFE tape is only for threaded connections. Use it on brass threaded adapters, threaded ball valves, unions and tank nipples. Solvent-weld joints should be made with CPVC solvent cement only, without any tape.
4) Can I use this tape for gas connections?
No. This white tape is for water and general plumbing. For natural gas and LPG connections, use a thicker yellow gas-rated PTFE tape and follow local safety codes.
5) Can the tape be reused?
No. Always remove the old tape and apply fresh tape when you reassemble a fitting. Used tape gets compressed and won't seal properly. Clean the threads of all old residue before wrapping new tape.
