Birla White WallSeal Waterproof Putty is a white cement-based wall putty with Active German Silicon Polymers that gives interior and exterior walls a smooth, water-resistant surface, with 2X the water resistance of standard putties. It suits moisture-prone areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and rain-exposed exterior walls, and protects against flaking, peeling and moisture damage. One 30 kg bag covers about 450–600 sq ft in two coats. Mix with 36–38% clean water, keep the total thickness within 1.5 mm, and use the mix within 3 to 3.5 hours.
Key Features
- 2X Enhanced Water Resistance: Active German Silicon Polymers help the putty resist moisture and water
- Smooth, Workable Finish: A smooth surface that brings out the true colour of the paint and is easy to apply
- Interior and Exterior Use: From bathrooms and kitchens to rain-exposed facades

Recommended Applications
- Bathroom and Kitchen Walls: Moisture-resistant finish against splashes and humidity
- Exterior Walls: Weather-resistant finish for building facades
- Balconies and Terraces: Protection against rain and moisture
- Basement and Coastal Areas: Moisture control in damp underground spaces and high-humidity environments
Application Guidelines
- Surface Preparation: Clean the wall thoroughly, remove dust, grease and loose particles, and make sure the surface is dry
- Mix the Putty: Mix with 36–38% clean water by weight (10.8–11.4 litres per 30 kg bag) to a smooth, lump-free paste. Use it within 3 to 3.5 hours and discard anything left beyond that
- First Coat: Apply a thin, even coat with a putty blade and let it dry for 3–4 hours
- Second Coat: Apply the second coat for a smooth finish. Keep the total thickness of both coats within 1.5 mm
- Sanding (Only If Needed): Sand gently with ultra-fine waterproof emery paper of not less than 500 grit. Coarser paper scratches away the water-repellent silicon polymer layer
- Prime and Paint: Apply primer once the putty has dried completely, then paint

1) What makes WallSeal different from regular WallCare Putty?
WallSeal has 2X enhanced water resistance from Active German Silicon Polymers, which suits moisture-prone areas. WallCare is a standard interior putty without enhanced waterproofing. Use WallSeal for bathrooms, kitchens and exteriors, and WallCare for dry interior walls.
2) Can I use WallSeal Waterproof Putty on exterior walls?
Yes. It is designed for both interior and exterior use, and its enhanced waterproofing makes it a good fit for exterior walls exposed to rain, humidity and weather.
3) Do I still need waterproofing treatment after using WallSeal?
WallSeal gives a water-resistant putty layer but is not a complete waterproofing system. For critical areas such as bathrooms and terraces, apply a dedicated waterproofing membrane first, then WallSeal. For general moisture protection, WallSeal alone is sufficient.
4) How much water do I add, and how long does the mixed putty last?
Add 36–38% clean water by weight, which is 10.8–11.4 litres for a 30 kg bag. The mixed paste stays usable for 3 to 3.5 hours at most. After that it breaks down and must be thrown out.
5) How thick can I apply it, and how long between coats?
Keep the total thickness within 1.5 mm across both coats — a thicker build traps tension in the cement and causes shrinkage cracks and paint peeling. Wait 3 to 4 hours before the second coat. If you need to sand, use ultra-fine waterproof emery paper of not less than 500 grit so you don't scratch off the water-repellent layer.
6) Can I use WallSeal in swimming pool areas?
Not recommended for direct water immersion or constant water contact. WallSeal is designed for moisture resistance, not submersion. For swimming pools, use a specialized pool-grade waterproofing system with tile finishes.
7) What primer should I use after WallSeal?
Use Birla White ActivCoat Primer (interior or exterior) or any quality water-based primer compatible with waterproof putties. Primer seals the surface, improves paint adhesion and supports the overall waterproofing system.
