V-Guard 1 HP VB24-F5E Single Phase Pressure Booster Pump with 24L Expansion Tank fixes low water pressure in homes fed from an overhead tank. Its 0.75 kW (1 HP) motor works across a 7 – 42 m head range and delivers 2,100 litres per hour at 30 m, giving strong, steady pressure at several taps and showers at the same time.
A built-in pressure switch starts the pump automatically when a tap opens and line pressure drops below 2.0 kg/cm², and stops it once pressure is back at 3.5 kg/cm². The 24-litre expansion tank handles small water use without starting the motor, so the pump switches on less often. The TEFC motor has copper winding and a thermal overload protector, with an aluminium body, cast iron pump casing and SS 304 impeller and diffuser. Hot-water seals let it work with solar water heaters and geysers. The pump set and tank are delivered in two separate boxes and sold together as one set.

Recommendations & Installation Tips
- Right Size: Best for independent homes up to 3 floors with 2 – 4 bathrooms and 3 – 4 people using water at once
- Best Position: Fit it below the overhead tank to boost pressure into the house lines
- Covered Location: Install in a covered, ventilated spot protected from rain
- Drawing from a Sump: Use a foot valve and a dry-run protector (sold separately) to stop the pump running without water
- Electrical Safety: Have a qualified electrician connect it with proper earthing; use a stabiliser where voltage fluctuates heavily
1) Why did I receive two boxes?
The set is packed in two boxes: Package A contains the pump set and Package B contains the 24-litre pressure tank. Both are sold together as one product and are needed for the system to work, so please keep both boxes and check both on delivery.
2) Does the 24-litre tank store water for the house?
No. It is a pressurised expansion tank, not a storage tank. It holds a cushion of compressed air and a small amount of water under pressure. When someone opens a tap briefly, the tank supplies that water without starting the motor. This reduces how often the pump switches on and off, saving power and extending the life of the motor and switch.
3) How does it start and stop by itself?
The built-in pressure switch watches the line pressure. When a tap or shower opens and pressure drops below 2.0 kg/cm², the pump starts. When taps close and pressure rises back to 3.5 kg/cm², it stops. The gauge shows the current pressure.
4) What output can I expect?
The pump works over a head range of 7 – 42 m and delivers about 2,100 litres per hour at 30 m head, as stated by V-Guard. Actual flow depends on your pipe layout, number of floors and how many outlets are open at once.
5) Can it be used with a solar water heater or geyser?
Yes. It has hot-water seals and Class F insulation for use in hot-water lines from solar heaters and geysers. Check the maximum water temperature in V-Guard's instructions for your setup.
6) Is it protected against overheating?
Yes. If the motor overheats, for example due to low voltage or a blockage, the thermal overload protector cuts power to protect the winding. In areas with frequent severe voltage fluctuations, using a stabiliser is still recommended.
7) Can it pull water up from an underground sump?
It is designed as a booster pump, ideally fitted below the overhead tank to push water into the house lines. Long suction lines from a deep sump reduce output and can cause air locks, so use a foot valve and dry-run protection if you must draw from a sump.
