SMG SPF-4 Wall Mounted Over Panel Patch with Pivot is used where a frameless glass door sits right next to a wall or concrete pillar. It fixes the glass panel above the door (over-panel or transom) directly to the wall, column or frame, and its built-in top pivot pin fits into the door's top patch so the door swings smoothly and stays aligned.

Made from strong metal alloy with a flat wall-fixing flange and non-slip rubber gaskets, it grips 8 – 12 mm toughened glass firmly. It works with the SMG SPF-2 top patch on the door and an SMG floor spring at the bottom, and shares the same 31 mm profile as the other SMG patch fittings for a uniform look across the entrance. The fitting measures 162 x 55 x 31 mm, with a 62 x 40 mm wall plate and a Ø15 mm pivot pin.

1) What is the difference between SPF-1 and SPF-4?

Both hold the glass over-panel above the door and both have a built-in top pivot pin. The SPF-1 is an L-shaped fitting that joins the over-panel to a side glass panel. The SPF-4 is a straight fitting that fixes the over-panel directly to a solid wall, concrete pillar or frame, so choose it when your door sits next to a wall instead of a glass side panel.

2) Are wall fixing bolts included?

The box includes the glass-tightening screws and basic anchors. However, the right anchor depends on your wall (concrete, brick, wood or steel), so installers usually fit their own heavy-duty anchor bolts, especially for heavy glass or busy commercial entrances.

3) Does the SPF-4 hold the moving door?

No. The SPF-4 stays fixed to the wall and over-panel. Its built-in pivot pin fits into the top patch fitting on the door (such as SMG SPF-2), which turns around the pin as the door swings. The floor spring supports and controls the door from below.

4) Can it be used at an outdoor storefront?

The chrome finish resists moisture well, making it suitable for covered storefronts and main entrances. For long life, wipe it clean with a soft cloth and avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners.

5) What glass thickness does it fit?

It is made for 8 mm to 12 mm toughened glass. The rubber gaskets grip the glass firmly and protect it from the metal plates. Do not use it on thicker glass, as it will not clamp properly.

6) What glass cutout does the over-panel need?

As per SMG's drawing, the over-panel glass needs one Ø20 mm hole about 36 mm from the edge, and a corner notch of roughly 146 x 37 mm with R80 and R55 curves (161 mm overall). Share these details or the SMG cutout drawing with your glass fabricator before the glass is toughened, as toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled afterwards.
