SMG SPF-3 Bottom Patch Fitting clamps onto the bottom corner of a frameless glass door and connects it to the floor spring below. A rectangular spindle slot on its underside fits over the floor spring's spindle, so the closer's movement turns into a smooth, controlled door swing, with no bulky frame around the glass.

Strong alloy clamp plates and non-slip rubber gaskets grip 8 – 12 mm toughened glass firmly and help keep the door from sagging or dragging over time. It completes the SMG glass door set with an SMG floor spring below and the SPF-2 top patch at the top corner of the door. 1) What does the SMG SPF-3 do?

The SPF-3 clamps onto the bottom corner of a frameless glass door, on the pivot side. The slot underneath fits over the floor spring's spindle, so when the floor spring turns, the door turns with it. This is what gives the door its controlled, self-closing swing.

2) Does it include the floor spring or floor box?

No. The SPF-3 is only the glass clamp that sits on top of the floor spring. The floor spring unit, with its floor box, closing mechanism and floor cover plate, is a separate product and must be bought separately.

3) What glass cutout does it need?

The door glass needs a standard rectangular corner notch with two Ø20 mm holes spaced 42 mm apart, centre to centre. Share these details or the SMG cutout drawing with your glass fabricator before the glass is toughened, because toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled afterwards.

4) What glass thickness does it fit?

It fits 8 mm to 12 mm toughened glass, which covers most office, shop and home glass doors. Do not use it on thicker glass, as the gaskets will not clamp properly.

5) Can it be used on wooden or aluminium doors?

No. It is designed to clamp glass using through-bolts in pre-drilled holes. For wooden or metal doors, use bottom pivot straps made for those materials.

6) Will it scratch the glass?

No. Pre-cut rubber gaskets sit between the metal plates and the glass, cushioning it during tightening and use, while also stopping the heavy glass from slipping in the clamp.

7) What is included in the box?
