Asian Paints SmartCare Epoxy TriBlock is a three-component epoxy cementitious coating for the positive waterproofing of cement water tanks, both underground sumps and overhead tanks. It is CFTRI Mysore certified food-grade safe, so it can be used where drinking water is stored. The built-in microbial resistance helps stop algae and bacteria growing on wet concrete, and it bonds to both smooth and rough cement surfaces to seal out leaks, dampness and moisture. It withstands up to 4 bar of positive water pressure. It is supplied as a kit of Base (Part A), Hardener (Part B) and Cementitious Powder (Part C), and the whole kit must be mixed together.

1) Can I use it in a tank that stores drinking water?

Yes. It is CFTRI Mysore certified food-grade safe for drinking water, so it does not leach harmful chemicals or odours into the water.

2) What is inside the kit, and in what ratio is it mixed?

Each kit holds three parts: Base (Part A), Hardener (Part B) and Cementitious Powder (Part C), to be mixed with clean water in a ratio by weight of 17 : 18 : 65 : 20. The 1 Kg kit holds 170 g Base, 180 g Hardener and 650 g Powder; the 5 Kg kit holds 850 g, 900 g and 3,250 g.

3) Can I mix half a kit, and how long does the mix last?

No. Partial mixing is strictly prohibited, because all three parts must be blended together in one pass for proper curing and to keep the food-grade properties. Once mixed with the water, the paste lasts 60 minutes at 30°C at most. Beyond that it loses adhesion and must be thrown out.

4) Does the tank need special preparation?

Yes. Clean the walls of loose plaster, moss, algae, oil and old paint, and pre-fill visible cracks or structural joints with a suitable structural sealant before applying TriBlock.

5) Which kit size do I need, and how many coats?

It covers 28 sq ft per kg for the complete 2-coat system, so the 1 Kg kit covers about 28 sq ft and the 5 Kg kit about 140 sq ft. Measure your tank's internal surface area against those figures. Allow 4 to 5 hours of drying between coats.

6) What does the 2-year warranty cover?

It covers waterproofing performance on cementitious water-retaining structures when the product is applied correctly per the surface preparation and application guidelines. Damage from poor preparation, structural movement or mechanical damage typically falls outside it.
